Rolly Polly Baby

Tate has officially mastered the art of rolling over. He has been rolling over a few months now, but it was only occasional. Now, anytime he is on the ground, in his bed or on an other flat surface, he rolls over to his tummy. The funny thing is he doesn't seem to understand that he can roll back from his tummy. So, he whines until someone flips him over. He used to only be able to go from his tummy to his back and now he can't remember how to do that. Yesterday, he rolled over while holding on to his blanket and looked like a baby burrito. What a funny boy. :)

Tate's First Easter

We had a great Easter Sunday. We all got Easter baskets (with LOTS of candy)- even Tate got two baskets. They all had toys in them; we didn't think candy was appropriate just yet! We went to church and had a nice Easter ham with my mom. It was a great and sunny, beautiful day!

March Madness!!

It is March Madness time again!! YEAH! I know if a guy was posting this, he would include stats, picks and maybe some pictures or videos. Not me...I posed Tate with March Madness themed items. That is how I roll. Happy March Madness and I hope you all picked winners! I know I did!

One Month Later

It has been a little over a month since Tate's surgery. We had a follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon, Dr. Brockmeyer, on Thursday at Primary Children's. He said that everything looked perfect and he even commented on how cute Tate is. It is amazing how well he is doing. He has never been better and we are having so much fun together. Here are some pictures of his scar. It is lightening up and he is getting some hair over top of it! Look at how round his little head is!!

Another Nice Day

Ok, I promise I won't post one million pictures of Tate in his stroller on our walks, but he was looking especially cute today. I put him in this hat to keep the sun out of his eyes and off his scar. He was a little confused by it!

Family Bowling Trip

We enjoy Wii bowling so much that we decided to try the real thing. We haven't been bowling in at least a year and we haven't really ever taken Tate out somewhere in public with us. So, it was such a treat to go bowling together on Saturday. Nathan and I thought we would be the best because we play Wii bowling so much, but we were horrible at first! I have never seen so many gutter balls! But, we got the hang of it and ended up doing ok. Tate loved all the new sights and sounds and we were able to play three games! It was so fun to be out together as a little family!!
Taters sat in his car seat and watched us for most of the time. He was being so sweet and cute. He is a little "ladies man." :)

Our Pretty/Funny Little Boy

Tate cracks us up on a daily basis. He is so much fun to be around and getting more so everyday. We went on another walk today and it was so much fun. He was asleep within minutes, but it was so nice to get some exercise outside for a change. I know we are not completely done with winter yet, but I love these warmer days!!
Tate fell asleep on Nathan the other night with no pants on. He is getting a little chunkier, which makes sense because he is constantly hungry!!
Another Bumbo picture. Tate likes to be sitting up. He should be sitting without the chair in no time.

Five Months Old!!

Tate is now five months old! Where has the time gone? Oh, I know- taking care of a baby! It is one of things that feels so short and like an eternity at the same time. What a great (and life changing!!) five months it has been. Here is the update on Tate: He is a smiley and interactive little boy these days. He loves to play, loves to pull his socks off, loves to put EVERYTHING in his mouth and loves being with his mom and dad. He has rolled over several times both from his front and from his back. He can sit up on his own for a little bit, but he does it like a baby tripod with his hands out in front. He goes back and forth on the sleeping thing. Now that he is better from his surgery and suffering no current illnesses (thank goodness!), we are working on sleep training. We started putting him in his crib at night a few weeks ago (before he was in his bouncy chair because of his acid reflux). We got this little wedge pillow thing that he lays on so that he is still inclined. He is doing better with his crib. We are working on getting him to take his naps in his crib this week. He used to sleep on me for his naps (I know!!) and he now needs to learn to sleep on his own for his naps. Today has been rough because he has protested being away from me for naps and it breaks me heart. We both cried for a bit this morning. But, he is doing better. I know this is best for him, but it is hard for me. I love having him snuggle with me for naps and he sleeps so well and is a happy boy! But, he is getting bigger and it isn't realistic to have him sleep on me. If I had it my way, he would be two years old and snuggling with his mommy! It is nice to be able to get more done while he is napping. Well, here are some pictures of him from recently. He is looking so big these days!!

Grandpa Hess' Birthday Party

We went up to Logan on Saturday for Nathan's grandfather's 90th birthday party. There were Hesses as far as the eye could see. It was really important for Nathan to be there because he is especially close to his grandfather and wanted to introduce him to Tate. The above picture is a four generation picture (Nathan's grandfather, father, Nath and Tate). What a fun day! Shelley (Nathan's sister) loves Tate and calls him "her baby."
We then went back to Nathan's brother, Darren's house, and had a fun time hanging out with the family, playing Wii and playing with all Tate's cousins. This is Aubrey and Bracken holding Tate. They were so cute and sweet with Tate. Bracken kept telling me how he loves "Baby Tate's crazy (pronounced "cwazy") hair."
